Team Roles

Outlined below are the roles performed within each team

Ideally each team (playing regular matches) would have the following roles fulfilled:

  • Head Coach/Manager – responsible for coaching plans; ensure implementation of Club Philosophy within the team; must have FA DBS check, FA Safeguarding course, First Aid (either FA delivered or FA approved) and Coaching qualification (minimum Level 1); preferably have FA Licensed Coaches Club membership (free)
  • Coach(es) – lead coaching sessions; must have FA DBS check, FA Safeguarding course, First Aid (either FA delivered or FA approved) and Coaching qualification (minimum Playmaker or Level 1); preferably have FA Licensed Coaches Club membership (free)
  • Coaching Assistants – support coaching sessions; must have FA DBS check and FA Safeguarding course
  • Team Coordinator – point of contact for internal Club admin; issue team communications such as training/match details; confirm fixtures with opposition and referee
  • Stores Coordinator – keyholder for the stores to unlock and lock up; ensure the correct equipment is taken out, looked after, returned to the correct place; report any missing/damaged items
  • Matchday helpers – set up/take down the goals, respect barrier etc so the coach(es) can concentrate on preparing/debriefing the players
  • Matchday delegate – to greet and liaise with the opposition and referee
  • Assistant referee – to ‘run the line’ for 9v9 and 11v11 matches
  • Sponsor Coordinator – to source and/or liaise with the team sponsor(s)
  • Tournament Committee member (U6s-U10s)
